RIP Wayman Tisdale, heaven just got alot cooler!!!!
2009 National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers Award Nominee
Are you tired of all the list and predictions from the past two days? Okay, here comes more stuff. If the pace of Janaury continues, I will see over 400 sporting events this year. That breaks down to every day and twice on Sunday. Wow!! That is a great stat, it speaks to hard I work, and I hope to see all of you at one of them as two little league football programs have asked me to join them next year. I believe this year.
But what of next year? Here is what is on the calendar already, and what I predict.
-I re-signed for another of Grizzlies baseball over the holidays. The support you folks lend to me is amazing and it thrills me to run into you all.
- The SAC basketball returns to Hickory in early March.
- The Belmont Wildcats return to action to defend their County title in April.
- I still have not been asked to announce the County Baseball Tourney at Sims Park in April. Though I hope it becomes available.
- My Saturdays in the fall will be busy that I will announce a major bowl game this fall. I am gunning for Disney in December. Cross your fingers(does that even work?)!!!
- I am sending a demo to the Tulsa WNBA franchise this month. My effort to land the OKC job last year fell just short and I hope this is a consolation prize of sorts.
Also, I have put any talk radio plans on hold, unofficially. I am finding that the whole idea is not something I am prepared for really. I prayed God would squash this if I was chasing windmills and it appears that is the case. I would say more but this is not the time or place. Thanks to God for this relief.
Now for resolutions. I usually don't do them but just for fun we will indulge. There is no order of importance, but it will cover it all.
I want to be a better dad.
I want to love my wife in a new way. This year has made her question things, and hurt even more. But I refuse to let her be tricked into believing that God hasn't a great platform for her to minister His cause. God is God over Type I diabetes, and everything else.
I worked so hard this year and was blessed for it. But now I wanna appreciate play. I am gonna buy some basketball shoes and play again. It will be ugly and hurt for a while, but for a half-court has-been, I will enjoy it.
I resolve to make this the year I see the M's live, and go to Disney finally.
I will hug more, listen more, and talk less, unless I get paid for it.
I will risk more and lose, and probably cry over it, and be better for it.
I will sing Rick Astley songs unashamedly, maybe even at my high school reunion, unless they stop me. Then I will sing in the restroom, at the top of my lungs.
I will spend more time being less funny, I will hurt with you people more. I hope I get a call when a friend needs me this year. I hoep to cut my dads grass for no reason at all.
I hope me and Jeanene date more, and get to Avery County for the day just because.
I plan to drink more water, and read my Bible more, with a focus I have never had before.
I want to make a funny commercial for chocolate milk( I don't drink beer).
I wanna see 4,000 people at a Grizzlies game, and shake each of their hands.
Lastly, I wanna see this business, this dream, this extension of what goes on in my head, to be stronger and better in 12 months than it is now. I got a family depending on it.
Feel free to share your resolutions with me if you like:
